Shock absorbers
In addition to the entire first and second degree suspension system, the suspension damping system, i.e. shock absorbers, is also responsible for comfort while traveling in a rail vehicle. Thanks to them, track irregularities and vibrations are not transmitted directly to the passenger space, thus ensuring comfort for travelers and stable driving of the bogie.
The shock absorber is an essential part of the bogie suspension system, and its main task is to dampen vibrations, stabilize the track, and also keep the rail/ tram bogie and its components in the appropriate position. Shock absorbers are relatively small elements, but they have a huge impact on the safety of the vehicle – If properly selected, they can have a positive impact on improving the vehicle’s comfort parameters and the derailment coefficient Y/Q.
It is worth noting that suspension parts, such as shock absorbers, spring the rail vehicle body regardless of the conditions in which they operate, resulting in obtaining the best possible wheel-track traction while maintaining high passenger travel comfort. Shock absorber parameters, incl. damping force, are selected individually for each client by MMR Group TransComfort technical department.
