During this year’s 14th edition of the TRAKO International Railway Fair, MMR Group TransComfort received the Prof. Jan Podoski Award for the VeloGleis system.
Prof. Jan Podoski Award is awarded by Izba Gospodarcza Komunikacji Miejskiej [The Chamber of Commerce for Urban Transport] for innovative technical solutions and modern technologies for public transport. This year, the VeloGleis product was awarded in the “Track infrastructure” category.
The VeloGleis system, which MMR Group TransComfort offers together with its long-term partner SEALABLE Solutions GmbH, is intended primarily for cyclists and pedestrians crossing the track. Cyclists often risk their own health trying to maneuver so that the wheels of the bicycle do not fall into the space intended for the edge of the tram wheel. Thus, the track becomes a significant obstacle in everyday road traffic, especially during bicycle races, where cyclists’ congestion and speed are an additional danger.
VeloGleis is a steel structure with an extruded elastomer profile as a core. This profile fills the track groove ensuring safe cycling or comfortable walking in high-heeled shoes. The VeloGleis system creates a completely enclosed surface when the road is used by cyclists or pedestrians. More about the system here:

VeloGleis has already gained recognition and references in Germany and Switzerland. Interest in this system in Poland has been expressed by all significant Tram Boards, and MMR Group TransComfort is already in the process of settling specific locations for its installation with several of them. Prof. Jan Podoski Award is a great distinction and proof that it is high time to ensure the safety of cyclists and pedestrians on the Polish tracks.
