On Saturday, September 19, the 12th European Tram Driver Championships TRAM-EM 2026 took place in Warsaw. The competition was held as part of Public Transport Days. MMR Group TransComfort was one of the event’s sponsors.
The European Tram Driver Championships TRAM-EM bring together tram drivers from public transport operators across Europe – and beyond. The competition provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their skills, experience and professionalism, as well as to exchange knowledge and best practices with representatives of tram operators from different countries.
The competition is held in a team format and features challenges related to the everyday work of a tram driver. Participants take on tasks requiring precision in tram operation, quick reflexes, knowledge of safety rules and the ability to respond effectively to situations that may arise in their daily work.
In Warsaw, 26 teams from Europe and one team from Australia competed for the title of the best tram driver team. Poland was represented by teams from Tramwaje Warszawskie, the host operator, and MZK Gorzów Wielkopolski, the winners of the Polish national championships. The winners of this year’s TRAM-EM were the Prague team – Vendula Tmejová and Zdenek Rychtár, representing Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy. The teams from Oradea and Sofia also took places on the podium.
