Sand for tram and railway sanding systems in the MMR Group TransComfort’ offer

The autumn-winter season challenges the managers of the track infrastructure in terms of maintaining a safe stopping distance for a tram or a railway vehicle. One of the possibilities to minimize the risks resulting from difficult weather conditions is sand with a high content of silica for tram and railway sanding systems, offered by MMR Group TransComfort.

Falling leaves, snow or damp rails pose a significant risk of skidding to rail vehicles. Sanding systems are gaining in importance as they sprinkle specially prepared sand to reduce slippage and minimize the risk of accidents. Certified sand offered by MMR Group TransComfort, with various grain sizes (0.4-0.8 mm; 0.8-1.6 mm) and a hardness above 6 on the Mohs scale, enables the proper preparation of the rolling stock for the autumn-winter season.

MMR Group TransComfort tests a machine for precision cutting of rails from polyurethane

MMR Group TransComfort has carried out tests of a machine designed for cutting rails out of polyurethane. The tests were conducted at the end of April in Łódź during repair works related to the need to replace rails embedded in polyurethane on a track shared with a bus roadway. The tested machine is the only one of its kind in Poland, and its technology was developed in Switzerland. This marks another step toward more efficient and modern maintenance of tram infrastructure.
