VeloGleis – an innovative system that increases traffic safety!

SEALABLE Solutions GmbH, a long-term partner of the MMR Group TransComfort, together with Künstler Bahntechnik GmbH, created a world-wide unique VeloGleis system with a steel structure with a core in the form of an extruded elastomer profile.

The VeloGleis system creates a fully covered surface when using the road by cyclists or pedestrians. In principle, any rail profile and type of fastening are suitable for use in the VeloGleis system. The fixing of the elastomer profile takes place off-site and there are no additional components in the conventional track channel. The system enables easy rail replacement without complicated road works. Cleaning of the system is done through the flush holes and repairs to the pavement can be made in any way required.

VeloGleis is suitable for installation in curves of even the smallest radius, in turnouts, as well as in places with track-side infrastructure and is fully compliant with the PN-EN ISO 5470-2, PN-EN 1433 and PN-EN 50162 standards.

The benefits of the VeloGleis system are:

  1. Security and functionality
  • The track system creates a fully covered surface for the safe passage of cyclists and pedestrians.
  • The test track shows no degradation in functionality and safety after 200,000 runs.
  1. Standard components for economy of use
  • Conventional rolled profiles can be used as runners .
  • Even standard fixings can be used (corrugated plate and rail clamp).
  1. Easy maintenance and service
  • Quick and easy replacement of rails without the need for complex construction work.
  • Possibility of machine cleaning of the system by unscrewing the covers.
  • Rails can be repaired with a simple reprofiling/welding process.
  1. Considered design
  • Small components are placed in conventional railway track.
  • Elastomer profile fixings are outside the operating area.
  • The system can be drained.
  1. Universal assembly options
  • Installation in curves of even the smallest radius.
  • Installation in switches (branching tracks) and turnouts.
  • Installation on expansion rails.
  1. Certificates and Licenses
  • Elastomer profile in accordance with PN EN ISO 5470-2 (abrasion resistance).
  • Construction of the box in accordance with the PN EN 1433 standard, load class D400.
  • Track guidance certification.
  • Stray current insulation according to EN 50162.

MMR Group TransComfort tests a machine for precision cutting of rails from polyurethane

MMR Group TransComfort has carried out tests of a machine designed for cutting rails out of polyurethane. The tests were conducted at the end of April in Łódź during repair works related to the need to replace rails embedded in polyurethane on a track shared with a bus roadway. The tested machine is the only one of its kind in Poland, and its technology was developed in Switzerland. This marks another step toward more efficient and modern maintenance of tram infrastructure.
