MMR Group TransComfort about bicycles on tracks during the Road Traffic Safety Congress 2026

From 25–27 March, Cracow hosted the Road Traffic Safety Congress 2026. MMR Group TransComfort joined the event as a partner and delivered a presentation titled “Bicycles and Tram Tracks: A Challenging Coexistence or Safe Synergy?” as part of the thematic session “Cycling and Tram Systems in Urban Space.”

As in previous years, Cracow became a hub for professionals dedicated to advancing road safety. The Road Traffic Safety Congress 2026 featured technical sessions, expert panels, and in-depth discussions on the current state of road safety in Poland in a broader European context, upcoming regulatory changes, and safety in public transport systems.

Representing MMR Group TransComfort, Mariusz Zaremba, Bartosz Soja-Polakiewicz, and Szymon Bukowski took part in the Congress to showcase engineering solutions designed to enhance cyclist safety in tram track environments. During their presentation, “Bicycles and Tram Tracks: A Challenging Coexistence or Safe Synergy?”, they introduced the VeloGleis system developed by their partner, SEALABLE Solutions GmbH.

VeloGleis is an elastomer-based rail infill profile that occupies the flangeway, enabling cyclists and pedestrians to move safely across tram tracks while maintaining full rail functionality. The solution addresses a long-standing urban mobility paradox: while cities increasingly promote sustainable, shared transport and micromobility, traditional tram infrastructure often forces unsafe compromises and effectively excludes cyclists from track-adjacent spaces.

We extend our thanks to the organizers of the Road Traffic Safety Congress 2026 and to all participants for the valuable insights and engaging discussions.
