Anti-roll bar systems

Anti-roll bar systems

Anti-roll bar systems are flexible suspension elements of a rail vehicle, which main task is to counteract the vehicle’s lateral tilts when driving around a curve. In other words, anti-roll bar system is a kind of connector, which transfers suspension force from one side of the vehicle to the other.

It can be assumed that the anti-roll bar system is a rod with a specific diameter, straight or profiled. It is attached to the vehicle body on one side and to the railway bogie or swing arm on the other using adjustable connectors.

When driving over slight unevenness, the wheels deflect at the same time or the difference in deflection is insignificant. In these conditions, the anti-roll bar systems have no effect on the operation of the suspension. When cornering, the anti-roll bar systems prevent excessive increase in the body’s lateral tilt.

We use various types of bearings in anti-roll bar systems, depending on the needs – spherical bearings, rubber-metal pins and sliding bearings. Anti-roll bar systems parameters, incl. torsional stiffness, are selected individually for each client by the MMR Group TransComfort technical department.
