The SMCV vertical load measurement system detects and analyzes the loads carried by each individual wheel and axle of rolling stock in motion to monitor and maintain safety.The sensors are placed on the rail, connected to the trackside PR measuring point and controlled from the PCO station.The PR measurement point contains data acquisition and processing units.
The system has two load measurement modes – quasi-static (from 5 to 30 km/h) and dynamic (from 5 to 250 km/h, usually greater than 30 km/h).The weighing method depends on the place, where the system is installed – in the station area or on the trail.The SMCV type vertical load measurement system belongs to the group of devices for detecting emergency states of railway vehicles while train is running and irregularities in the loading of wagons.

MMR Group TransComfort has received an unlimited approval for operation of the Urząd Transportu Kolejowego [Railway Transport Office] for the SMCV vertical load measurement system. The system is included in the group of “devices for detecting rail vehicle emergency conditions during train running and carriage loading irregularities”. The certificate of the Urząd Transportu Kolejowego for SMCV enables the widespread use of the system in Poland and will contribute to increase safety measures in rail cargo and passenger transport as well as facilitate the process of diagnostics and maintenance of railway infrastructure elements.
