MMR Group TransComfort has developed an innovative technology for constructing tram track structures intended for tram and road traffic – MONOLITH. The comprehensive MONOLITH solution includes a method of anchoring tram rails to the rail channels of a concrete slab (in monolithic or prefabricated technology). In the rail channels, rails are installed in elastomeric profiles, which are anchored to the substructure using the PCC cement-polymer mortar – MMR MONO-MASS, composed as part of the project.
Application of MONOLITH technology:
- pedestrian traffic, including people with limited mobility (at pedestrian crossings),
- bicycle traffic (at bicycle crossings),
- urban road traffic (separated tracks with a concrete surface; tracks shared with the road, e.g. bus and tram lines; track and road crossings).
MONOLITH technology is intended for both the construction of new and renovation of existing surfaces.
MONOLITH technology parameters:
- rail loading just 2 hours after application of MMR MONO-MASS,
- possibility of operating loading of theroad surface and rail 24 hours after application of MMR MONO-MASS (compression resistance >30MPa) at a temperature of 20⁰C,
- compression resistance after 28 days approx. 60 MPa (including 80% of resistance after 7 days),
- bending resistance >11MPa,
- high resistance of the MONOLITH surface to freezing/thawing with or without the use of de-icing agents (exp. levels XF3 and XF4) and resistance to chlorides (exp. level XD3).
Components of MONOLITH technology:
- original, innovative PCC cement-polymer mortar MMR MONO-MASS – the product shortens the implementation time of track works, while eliminating technological and functional problems of the surface,
- RCS® rail profiles – their design guarantees independent operation of the rail under load, which is additionally completely controllable (as to the given rail deflection) and determines its susceptibility to failure for each structure.Additionally, RCSÒ profiles provide excellent insulation against stray currents – they have become the basis for MONOLITH technology insulation for consistently maximum noise and vibration dampening.
